Forged in the vibrant Midlands world music scene and with a background steeped in the music and culture of China, comes the authentic and original Jasmine Moon Ensemble.
With a range of traditional Chinese instruments, including Erhu, Dizi, Xiao, San Xian, Guzheng, Bawu, and Hulusi, and a wealth of evocative musical material in their repertoire, the group have been delighting audiences since 2010, playing at music festivals, museum events, major music venues and traditional Chinese festival celebrations. These have included Moseley Folk Festival, Shambala Festival, The Barber Institute of Fine Arts, The Ashmolean Museum, mac Birmingham, Surge in Spring Festival and Symphony Hall Foyer, Birmingham.
Now with a new line-up which sees distinguished Erhu soloist, Ling Peng, join forces with founder member Max Gittings, on Dizi and other Chinese Woodwind, the story of The Jasmine Moon Ensemble continues.
So from the plains of the Yangtze Delta to the mountains of Yunnan, and from the heartlands of Sichuan province to the bays of the South China Sea, get ready for a magical musical journey across the Middle Kingdom!
